Government confirms settlement of Al Saadi case

The UK Government and other defendants have reached a settlement in the Al Saadi case.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Libyan national Sami Al Sa’adi and his family members brought a civil claim against Her Majesty’s Government and named defendants relating to alleged rendition to Libya in 2004 and subsequent mistreatment in detention there.

In relation to this claim, a Government spokesperson said today:

“We can confirm that the Government and the other defendants have reached a settlement with the claimants. There has been no admission of liability and no finding by any court of liability.”
