Our governance
How the work of the UK National Contact Point (UK NCP) for the OECD’s guidelines for multinational enterprises is overseen.
We are based in the Department for Business and Trade (DBT).
The UK National Contact Point (UK NCP) is independent of the department. DBT ministers play no part in the UK NCP’s decisions on complaints.
Steering board
Our work is overseen by a steering board which includes:
- external board members from stakeholder groups such as business, trade unions and non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
- representatives from relevant government departments
- an independent unaffiliated member
The UK NCP steering board is supported by a secretariat which is separate from the UK NCP. The secretariat supports the chair, takes minutes of the board meetings and handles steering board reviews of UK NCP complaint decisions.
OECD Working Party for Responsible Business Conduct
The head of the UK NCP represents the UK on the OECD Working Party for Responsible Business Conduct (WPRBC) which reports to the OECD Investment Committee.
The chair of the UK NCP steering board represents the UK on the OECD Investment Committee.
