Sarah Steele
Biography
Sarah Steele is a Senior Legal Advisor for the North Sea Transition Authority, advising on Net Zero and Energy Transition matters at the intersection of law, strategy and policy development. She is working closely with government to design the evolving regulatory and business models landscape for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), and the emerging areas of hydrogen regulation and industry’s investment in an offshore electricity grid to reduce emissions. She has significant experience advising on the impacts of the Paris Agreement in the context of regulation and litigation.
Sarah brings over 10 years’ experience in the legal industry, including as a corporate lawyer at international law firm Latham & Watkins advising multinationals on a range of M&A and equity capital markets transactions, as well as at specialist law firm Omnia Strategy where she worked on investor-state disputes and advised global corporates and SMEs on their Business & Human rights compliance obligations.
Sarah sits as a Committee Member on the Law Society’s Professional Standards & Ethics and Company Law Committees. Sarah’s appointment is due to end on 1 April 2024.

- sustainable lending
- bribery and corruption
- disclosure, including freedom of information requests
