Yvonne Spencer
Biography
Yvonne Spencer was appointed Director of Science Transformation, APHA in June 2020. She first joined the agency in 1984.
Her previous roles include:
- Head of Pathology & Animal Sciences Department, Science Directorate, APHA
- Lead Scientist, Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy (TSE) Programme, APHA & Director of National & International Reference Laboratory for TSEs
- Pathology Senior Research Scientist, and Workgroup Leader, Pathology Department APHA
Director of Science Capability
The Director of Science leads on science specifications for new biocontainment animal and laboratory facilities for the National Science Capability in Animal Health Programme (SCAH) Weybridge site redevelopment. This includes responsibility for development and implementation of a science transformation workstream to shape and streamline discipline based science capability, research and disease outbreak response. SCAH is a 15 year, multi-billion pound programme.
