Consular services fees
Fees charged for services at British embassies, high commissions and consulates, including certification, legalisation and emergency travel document fees.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) charges a fee for the consular services provided by embassies, high commissions and consulates.
You’ll pay the same fee for each service in every country and will get an official receipt when you pay.
Fees are charged in British pounds. Consular exchange rates are set by the FCDO in the UK and reviewed each month. When you pay for a service by card, we collect the fee in British pounds.
Not all services are available in every location. Find out which services are available at each embassy, high commission or consulate.
Costs are shown in British pounds. You can convert fees to local currency using the current consular exchange rate.

How fees are calculated
We calculate fees based on how much it costs to run our services around the world.
Consular assistance is funded by a small premium included in the price of every British passport and from the fees we charge for the services listed here.
Fees are approved by the Privy Council and laid before Parliament. The fees are levied under the Consular Fees Order 2016, as amended.
