The maps also show the Extended Homeowner Protection Zones. There are two such zones. The green hatched area marked on the maps shows the areas of land that were in surface safeguarding according to the safeguarding directions issued on 26 June 2014, but which were removed from surface safeguarding on 16 August 2016. Within these two zones, eligible owner occupiers will be able to serve a blight notice as if their property was still within safeguarding for a period of five years from the date the areas ceased being in surface safeguarding.
