This guidance is to inform local authorities of the implications of amendments to Civil Procedure Rules Part 55, which will require mortgage lenders to notify local authorities that possession proceedings relating to a mortgaged residential property in their area have commenced and thus to encourage local authorities to use this information in the context of their homelessness prevention functions to assist households at risk of repossession.
