Details

Statistics on road freight transported by Great Britain and UK registered Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) in the United Kingdom and internationally from October 2016 to September 2017.

Domestic freight activity by GB-registered HGVs operating in the UK increased in the year ending September 2017.

There were increases compared to the year ending September 2017 of:

  • 3% in the amount of goods lifted, to 1.45 billion tonnes
  • 3% in the amount of goods moved, to 150 billion tonne kilometres

International road freight by UK-registered HGVs transporting freight internationally increased in the year ending September 2017.

There were increases compared to the year ending September 2017 of:

  • 2% in the amount of goods lifted, to 8.0 million tonnes
  • 5% in the amount of goods moved, to 5.4 billion tonne kilometres
