Reply to your Electoral Registration Office about your voting rights

Use this service to reply to a letter or email asking a question about your immigration status to find out how this affects your voting rights.

Your answer to this question will only be shared with your Electoral Registration Office. It will not affect your immigration status.

Your Electoral Registration Office will use your answer to check if you have the right to vote in:

  • local elections and local polls if you live in England
  • Police and Crime Commissioner elections if you live in England or Wales

If you live in Wales, there are no changes to your right to vote in Senedd and Welsh local council elections.

Find out more about changes to voting rights for EU citizens on the Electoral Commission website.
