Details

The Fellowship will be a first-of-its-kind career accelerator for ambitious, mid-career investment professionals in the UK with a strong interest in science and technology.

It will establish a network of next generation leaders by providing bespoke learning and professional development opportunities across the UK’s world-leading Deep Tech and Life Sciences ecosystem. The programme is expected to launch in Autumn 2024.

Fellowship structure

Designed to be undertaken alongside a full-time job, the Fellowship will offer world-class training and support to create future industry leaders in venture capitalism. This may include but not be limited to:

  • core in-person modules delivered by high profile external speakers (including C-suite level) from entrepreneurs, venture capitalists (VCs), business schools, law firms and large investment management organisations

  • engagement with the science and technology base through networking events and visits giving participants direct access to the UK’s leading science and technology institutions and innovation ecosystem

  • experiential learning through exposure to scaling firms and the R&D base across the life sciences and deep tech ecosystem, leadership development and mentoring

  • in-person modules will be delivered as intensive contact days at regular intervals throughout the year, complimented where relevant by online and by experiential learning

Eligibility

Candidates for the Science and Technology Venture Capital Fellowship should be:

  • currently living and working in the UK venture capital industry with a minimum of 3 years of investing experience, or;
  • currently working in other asset classes in UK based and registered firms with at least 3 years of investing experience (e.g. family office, university investing, angel investing, secondaries, accelerator), or;
  • UK based entrepreneurs transitioning into UK based VC investing with substantial experience working in the startup ecosystem with experience fundraising.

Expressions of interest are open to suitably qualified candidates who are interested in participating in this Fellowship.

Delivery partners

Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) will procure an experienced partner to deliver the Fellowship. An invitation to tender is open until 3pm on 29 April 2024.

We want to collaborate with partners from industry, philanthropy and the investment community, who are committed to commercialising and scaling the UK R&D base and in supporting the growth of the UK’s investor network in science and technology.
