Bolkow BO 209-160FV Monsun, G-EFJD

Summary:

The pilot reported that after making a short local flight, he intended to perform a touch-and- go on Runway 05 at Perranporth Airfield. He flew a curved approach from the downwind position and touched down on the mainwheels. As he gently lowered the nose landing gear onto the runway it collapsed, causing the propeller to strike the runway and shatter. The aircraft slid for a short distance but remained on the runway. The pilot made the aircraft safe and vacated it with his passenger; there were no injuries. The weather conditions were reported as good, with the surface wind from 330° at 15 kt.
