Summary:

The aircraft took off from grass Runway 15 at Plaistows Farm Airfield and at 700 ft agl the pilot started a turn to the left. As he did so he noticed that the starboard door was coming open. He felt this was affecting the handling of the aircraft badly so he decided to make a forced landing in a nearby field. The aircraft landed heavily in the field and, as a result, the nose landing gear collapsed and the propeller struck the ground. The pilot was not injured in the accident and was able to vacate the aircraft by the door on the left side.
