Pierre Robin DR400/140B Major, G-BFJZ

Summary:

The student was conducting the first of several solo ‘touch and go’ circuits. After a normal circuit and touch down the student applied full power to commence the rolling take off. He applied right rudder to keep the aircraft straight, however applied too much rudder sending the aircraft off to the right. The student then attempted to correct this by applying left rudder, but over-compensated sending the aircraft off to the left. The aircraft crossed the left-hand edge of the runway and hit a fence before the aircraft could be brought to a halt. The left wing was damaged in the collision and the aircraft spun round through 180 degrees before stopping. The student shut the engine down and vacated the aircraft uninjured.
