Bird flu: near Elham, Folkestone and Hythe, Kent (AIV 2023/37)
Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed in commercial poultry on 20 July 2023.
23 August 2023: Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the zone, the 10km surveillance zone has been revoked.
18 August 2023: Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance within the zone, the 3km protection zone has been lifted and the area that formed the protection zone becomes part of the surveillance zone.
All poultry on the premises have been humanely culled.
