Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N5 was confirmed in commercial poultry on 5 November 2024.

Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the surveillance zone around the premises, the 10km surveillance zone has ended.

Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the zone, the 3km protection zone has ended and the area that formed the protection zone becomes a surveillance zone.

5 November 2024

Highly Pathogenic avian influenza H5N5 was confirmed in a commercial poultry premises and a protection zone and a surveillance zone has been declared. All poultry on the premises have been humanely culled.

This revokes:

Declaration of the ending of a Protection Zone (H5N5 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza) – near Hornsea, East Riding of Yorkshire, Yorkshire, made at 20:25 on 5th November and the area that formed that Protection Zone becomes part of the Surveillance Zone

This revokes and replaces:

Declaration of the avian influenza protection and surveillance zone
