Bird flu: near Nafferton, East Riding of Yorkshire, Yorkshire (AIV 2024/17)
Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 was confirmed in commercial poultry on 31 December 2024.

Following further testing, highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 has been confirmed in commercial poultry at a premises near Nafferton, East Riding of Yorkshire, Yorkshire (AIV 2024/17 previously AIV SOS 2024/04). All poultry on the premises will be humanely culled. A 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone have been declared around the premises replacing the temporary control zone declared on 31 December 2024.

Following the report of suspicion of highly pathogenic avian influenza in commercial poultry at a premises near Nafferton, East Riding of Yorkshire, Yorkshire (AIV SOS 2024/04) a decision has been taken to pre-emptively cull the birds based on the clinical signs observed and rapidly increasing mortality. All affected poultry on the premises will be humanely culled.
A 3km temporary control zone A and a 10km temporary control zone B have been put in place surrounding the premises.
