Bird flu: near Watton, Mid Norfolk, Norfolk (AIV 2024/04)

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed in commercial poultry on 5 December 2024.

Case information

27 January 2025: Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the zone, the 10km surveillance zone has been revoked.

10 January 2025: Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the zone, the 3km protection zone has ended and the area that formed the protection zone becomes a surveillance zone.

5 December 2024: Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed in commercial poultry at a premises near Watton, Mid Norfolk, Norfolk. A 3km protection zone and a 10km surveillance zone have been declared surrounding the premises. All poultry on the premises will be humanely culled.

This revokes the declaration of the ending of a protection zone.

This revokes and replaces the Declaration of the avian influenza protection and surveillance zone.
