Bird flu: third case near Watton, Mid Norfolk, Norfolk (AIV 2024/11)

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was confirmed in commercial poultry on 17 December 2024.

Following further testing, highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed at a third premises near Watton, Mid Norfolk, Norfolk (AIV 2024/11 previously AIV 2024 SOS/02). A 3km protection zone and a 10km surveillance zone have been declared surrounding the premises. All poultry on the premises will be humanely culled.

Following the report of suspicion of highly pathogenic avian influenza in commercial poultry at a third premises near Watton, Mid Norfolk, Norfolk (AIV SOS 2024/02) a decision has been taken to pre-emptively cull the birds based on the clinical signs observed. All poultry on the premises will be humanely culled. A 3km temporary control zone A, and a 10km temporary control zone B have been put in place surrounding the premises.
