You’ll need a visa to come to the UK
Apply for a Marriage Visitor visa if you and your partner want to get married or enter into a civil partnership in the UK.
If you want to live in the UK permanently, you must apply for a family visa if your partner:
- is a British citizen
- is settled in the UK (called having ‘indefinite leave to remain’)
- has settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme
- has a Turkish worker or businessperson visa
If you want to convert a civil partnership into a marriage
If you’re travelling on or after 2 April 2025, you’ll need to apply for an electronic travel authorisation (ETA). You’ll be able to apply from 5 March 2025.
You will not need a visa but you must meet the Standard Visitor eligibility requirements.
