Abstract

This is a training toolkit on implementation research (IR), i.e. the systematic approach to understanding and addressing barriers to effective implementation of health interventions, strategies and policies, designed to strengthen IR capacities of individuals and institutions in low- and middle-income countries. It consists of a 175-page participants' workbook, a 106-page facilitator's guide, and a complete set of PowerPoint slides. There are six modules: Contextualizing implementation research issues; Developing an implementation research proposal; Planning to execute implementation research; Analysing implementation research data; Communicating the findings and feeding them back into the health system; and Monitoring and evaluating the project.
