Abstract

This document (also available in French and Spanish) begins with a brief description of the AIDS epidemic and its effect on women, followed by an introduction to vaginal microbicides and their testing. It then describes the work of the International Partnership for Microbicides, in particular its clinical trials. A glossary of terms is provided.
