The Import of and Trade in Animals and Animal Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) (No. 2) Regulations 2019

The purpose of this instrument is to make technical operability changes to parts of retained EU legislation relevant to the import of animals and animal products, in order to assist with the interpretation of cross-referenced Directive provisions. This will provide additional legal clarity.

Sifting committee recommendation

Both the Lords and Commons sifting committees disagreed with the government and have recommended that this statutory instrument should be debated in parliament.

   On 9th September the Commons sifting committee came to the same recommendation as the Lords sifting committee that this SI should be uplifted to the affirmative procedure.

2. 9 September 2019

   This statutory instrument has been recommended to be uplifted to the affirmative procedure by the Lords sifting committee on 5th September 2019.
