Details

SELEP is looking for a package of online learning and virtual reality to raise awareness of priority sectors and to offer online learning modules, developed in partnership with local employers and skills boards. This should build on existing best practice in the area such as the virtual reality software for logistics developed by the Essex Employment and Skills Board. Content when developed should be easy to access across the SELEP area and beyond.

There are huge opportunities for unemployed people to move into employment and for employed people and SMEs to upskill and retrain in the SELEP area, given the right support and knowledge. Productivity and growth is being hampered by the lack of awareness of opportunities in key sectors, access to training and untapped economic activity is restricting growth.

This call is intended to equip people for this growth and skills and to ensure that training is accessible, industry led, locally relevant and dynamic. The ambition for utilising virtual reality and online learning is twofold; firstly it helps to raise awareness of the jobs available now and in the future and secondly it opens up flexible training opportunities to greater cohorts such as those in rural areas, those in prison, those with transport challenges or those in work who wish to undertake training flexibly. SELEP would like to establish local, relevant content in-keeping with the priorities set out in the skills strategy. Such a project is intended to establish SELEP as an area of expertise.
