Apply for an export health certificate online

Exporters in England, Scotland and Wales can apply for an export health certificate (EHC) online.

If you’re in Northern Ireland, you’ll need to apply to DAERA.

2. Apply online

You’ll need:

  • a Government Gateway account
  • a Defra account

If you don’t already have them you’ll need to register for these accounts, and so will your official vet or inspector.

If you are exporting the meat of pigs farmed and slaughtered in Northern Ireland:

  1. Check the requirements for export in the Guidance notes for certificate 6838 (NI).
  2. Download and fill in Export fresh pig meat for further heat treatment to Australia: certificate 6838 (NI)
  3. Check if there are any other forms to submit with your application in the commodity section of the DAERA website.
  4. Upload your application.

If you are exporting the meat of pigs imported from the Republic of Ireland and slaughtered in Northern Ireland:

  1. Check the requirements for export in the Guidance notes for certificate 6838 (NI & IE).
  2. Download and fill in Export fresh meat from pigs imported from RoI for further heat treatment to Australia: certificate 6838(NI IE).
  3. Check if there are any other forms to submit with your application in the commodity section of the DAERA website.
  4. Upload your application.
