Details

This report sets out the research projects that were planned and / or completed to improve the mathematical models used to understand the large scale, medium to long-term risks. These risks are posed by factors, such as climate change and change caused by human activities. This programme of work is referred to as the Broad Scale Modelling theme.

These projects are designed to enable Defra and the Environment Agency to:

  • reduce risks to people and the environment from flooding
  • discourage building developments in areas at risk of flooding or coastal erosion
  • understand the interactions between planning, land use, farming and other factors that affect flood risk

The project started in 2002 and was completed in 2003 at a cost of £99,000.
