Details
This project is one of a group examining different sources of flooding in estuaries, on coasts and in rivers.
The river project includes two elements:
- Rainfall Measurement and Forecasting (RMF)
- Real Time Modelling (RTM)
This report covers the Real Time Modelling element, the Rainfall Measurement and Forecasting element can be found in R&D Technical Summary W5C-013/4/TS/1.
The project reviewed current ways of forecasting and any problems involved, and produced guidelines on how to choose real-time models for people involved in flood forecasting. It examined the range of real-time models available and how easy they are to use, as well as the uncertainties involved in each model and ways of dealing with them. It also reviewed the technical background to using real-time models.
This project was started in 2001 and completed in 2003.
