Details

This project was designed to provide information to create the next round of Shoreline Management Plans (SMPs). This would improve their consistency, quality and reliability and make sure that solutions developed are sustainable.

The research studied the processes happening in each major coastal cell to predict how its shape and function was likely to evolve over the next 100 years. The project provided user guidance on a CD-Rom to help coastal groups and consultants access the information. This includes how it should be used to develop future coastal assessments. It has since been made available online via the Channel Coast Observatory website.

The project started in 2000 and was completed in 2002 at a cost of £1,139,372.
