Details

This study analyses a series of five case studies to explore how quality assurance of flood risk modelling is currently undertaken. The study covers:

  • the type of models used
  • how quality assurance was carried out
  • issues that arose during the process - how these were addressed.

The aim was to understand the variability and potential gaps in the modelling assurance process, and the impacts these might have on business cases for FCERM funding.

From this, the project explores what changes are needed to improve the quality of flood risk modelling and how the results can be used in subsequent stages of appraisal.

This project was started in 2018 and completed in 2019, and cost £23,261.
