Objectives
The aim of this research is to develop a clear vision and draft strategy embedding social science research within the Defra / Environment Agency flood and coastal erosion risk management (FCERM) research programme.
Doing this should result in holistic solutions to flooding issues. It’ll also ensure that social science and interdisciplinary research projects are clearly rooted in a joined up strategy. This will be of interest to Defra FCERM research and policy staff, as well as social science staff in Defra and the Environment Agency.
Outcome
The project has developed a vision statement for FCERM research and development and has revealed a series of existing opportunities to achieve that vision. This is through collaborative research and a focus on capacity building. The vision and opportunities provide the building blocks for embedding social sciences in the FCERM R&D programme.
This project ran from 2007 to 2008 at a cost of £63,944.
