Details
The River Restoration Centre manual of techniques has been updated with 17 new case studies from England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland. The case studies can be found by searching an interactive map. They can also be viewed by site classification, by restoration technique or by Water Framework Directive (WFD) mitigation measure.
They range from large-scale civil engineering projects through to small-scale interventions using local labour and equipment. They include details of the specific restoration technique(s) used, illustrated with engineering sections, diagrams and photographs.
The manual helps river managers identify potential restoration techniques to use in river restoration and sustainable river management. The term river is used here, but this manual is also relevant to drainage channels.
This project was started in February 2012 and completed in September 2013.
