Detail of outcome

The consultation response sets out the findings and recommendations of the Tailored Reviews of the Legal Services Board and the Office for Legal Complaints carried out between October 2016 and March 2017.

It recommends that both bodies retain their form and their functions.

It also recommends that they both evaluate opportunities to make future efficiency savings.

Call for evidence description

As part of the UK government’s requirement for public bodies to be efficient, effective and accountable, all government departments must conduct a Tailored Review of their ALBs at least once in the lifetime of a parliament, every 5 years.

The separate but concurrent Tailored Reviews of the Legal Services Board (LSB) and the Office for Legal Complaints (OLC) will examine whether there is a continuing need for the function and form of each organisation.

In particular, this will include an assessment of organisational performance and governance arrangements.
