Call for evidence description

The Green Industries Growth Accelerator (GIGA) is a £960 million fund announced in Autumn 2023 to support the expansion of strong and sustainable clean energy supply chains across the UK, including:

  • carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS), engineered greenhouse gas removals (GGRs) and hydrogen
  • offshore wind and electricity networks
  • civil nuclear

This is part of a wider £4.5 billion package of funding for manufacturing to support private sector investment in strategic sectors across the UK.

The purpose of this call for evidence is to:

  • inform the design of the fund to support hydrogen and CCUS (including GGRs) supply chains
  • gather insight into the manufacturing project pipeline and the issues faced by the supply chain within the CCUS and hydrogen sectors
  • inform understanding of CCUS and hydrogen market readiness for GIGA funding

We welcome responses from anyone, but expect this call for evidence to be of particular interest to:

  • manufacturers or technology providers of products or equipment in the CCUS, CCUS enabled GGR and/or hydrogen value chains
  • manufacturers or technology providers seeking to pivot towards CCUS, CCUS enabled GGR and/or hydrogen component manufacturing
  • businesses with an interest in the hydrogen and/or CCUS supply chain such as:
    • project developers
    • engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies
    • end users of components
    • other non-manufacturers
  • trade bodies with an interest in hydrogen and CCUS sectors
