The government would like to thank everyone who responded to the call for evidence. This document summarises the submissions received. While not setting out specific policy proposals at this stage, the government commits to pursue policies that will reduce the overall environmental impact of diesel use and encourage uptake of alternatives where available.

Call for evidence description

In order to improve air quality, particularly in our towns and cities, we are publishing a call for evidence into whether red diesel for non-road mobile machinery discourages the purchase of cleaner alternatives.

Red diesel for agricultural use will be out of scope, as will fishing vessels, home heating and other static uses.
