Review of local authority role in housing supply: call for evidence
Applies to England
Call for evidence description
On 30 January 2014 the Secretary of State for the Department of Communities and Local Government and the Chief Secretary to the Treasury launched an independent review into the role that local authorities could play in increasing the supply of housing. The review is jointly led by Natalie Elphicke and Councillor Keith House and is expected to report in December 2014.
This call for evidence is inviting ideas, evidence and case studies to help identify novel and innovative approaches that could help local authorities to support increased housing as well as identify perceived barriers and challenge ‘myths’ that may stand in the way of housing developments.
The review only covers the role of local authorities in England. However, we would be interested to hear about innovative approaches and good practice from other countries, especially Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
