£19 million to transform Hackney Central  (Levelling Up Fund 2)

Over £19 million from the Levelling Up Fund has been awarded to Hackney Council to regenerate its town centre.

The funding will open more green space whilst investing in key buildings to help rejuvenate Hackney.  

Developing a Green and Resilient Hackney Central 

Transport improvements in Hackney Central will improve traffic congestion, reduce air pollution, create more green space and provide new routes for pedestrians and cyclists. 

Improving Hackney’s heritage assets and high street 

Town centre building’s such as the Town Hall Square and library services will be improved to create a stronger civic heart in Hackney. 

Levelling Up funding will also bring empty spaces and shops back into use and support the local market, increasing footfall.
