£20 million allocated to revitalise Cannock town centre
Cannock town centre has been allocated £20 million from the Levelling Up Fund to support local transformation.
A new cultural hub
Plans include demolishing the former multi storey car park and indoor market hall. This will allow the refurbishment of The Prince of Wales theatre on Church Street. The new cultural hub will include:
- a new two-screen cinema
- a bar and restaurant
Support for businesses and entrepreneurs
Cannock’s new planned workspace for businesses and entrepreneurs will:
- offer business coaching as part of a business accelerator scheme
- increase footfall in the town
- create 190 new jobs
Better links in town
Funding was also allocated to support Cannock’s new Northern Gateway. This will see the removal of the existing subway and better links between:
- Beecroft Road Car Park
- the town centre
- the bus station
