£20 million to better connect Mansfield (Levelling Up Fund 2)

£20 million from the Levelling Up Fund has been awarded to Mansfield District Council for the Mansfield Connect project. Mansfield Connect will see the regeneration of a former department store into a new civic and community space.

A new hub in the heart of Mansfield

The vacant Beales Department store will be transformed into a multi-service hub that includes:

  • social community spaces and an education hub
  • a new health hub supporting healthy living and wellbeing in the community
  • new frontage and green space to make the street feel welcoming

Bringing together local council services through the district and county councils, the hub will also provide a new home for key partners in the area, including:

  • The NHS
  • Vision West Nottinghamshire College
  • Mansfield CVS
  • Department for Work and Pensions

Mayor Andy Abrahams said:

Mansfield Connect will transform the way we deliver services to our community, bringing together our partners, agencies, residents and communities.  It will bring a new confidence to Mansfield, re-purposing this long abandoned site in the heart of the town, fully complementing our wider regeneration ambitions.

A central point of access

The new hub will act as a central point of access for a number of vital services for local people. It will also provide:

  • new opportunities for local enterprise and skills training
  • increased footfall in Mansfield town centre
  • a boost to the local night-time economy

The project will act as a catalyst for further investment.

Funding for Mansfield Connect follows the £12.3 million awarded as part of the Mansfield Town Deal
