5GUK Test Network
Working together to trial 5G networks and technology
In July 2017, the Government awarded £16 million to three leading 5G research institutions in the UK - the 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) at the University of Surrey, the University of Bristol and King’s College London - to collaborate together and form a cutting-edge, large-scale, 5G test network to trial 5G technologies and applications across a range of sectors.
The capabilities of the 5GUK Test Network were successfully demonstrated at Mobile World Congress in February 2018, and on 5GIC Campus, in Bristol Millenium Square and the City of London in March 2018. This included the achievement of several world firsts, such as completing end-to-end 5G use case testing across the 5GUK Test Network.
