New physical activity hub in Bedworth supported by over £14 million

Over £14 million from the Levelling Up Fund will support the construction of a new physical activity hub in Bedworth. This will replace the current Bedworth Leisure Centre that dates from the 1970s.

Better leisure facilities

The new hub will improve the health and wellbeing facilities in the town with:

  • a 25-metre swimming pool
  • two new fitness studios
  • a four-court sports hall
  • a mountain biking track
  • a multi-use games area
  • a skateboard park

Councillor Sue Markham, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council:

This is extremely exciting news … after opening the new mountain bike trail and sports court facilities … it feels like we are really making huge progress in expanding our physical activity offer to local residents.

Improving accessibility

Improvements will help boost the health and wellbeing of the local community.

Bedworth Disabled Swimming Club:

The entry pods to both pools are very good news. The changing village system will suit almost all of our members, particularly those with carers of the opposite sex. A lot of thought has obviously gone into parking and access for the less able and the overall park upgrade is very exciting.

The centre is expected to be fully reopen by 2024.
