Rejuvenating Partington Sports Village with £18 million (Levelling Up Fund 2)

Over £18 million was awarded to Trafford Council for upgrades to Partington Sports Village.

A new and improved leisure centre

Residents and local schools are unable to use the current sports facility properly due to insufficient facilities. The Levelling Up funding will be spent on:

  • renovating the sports hall and increasing the gym stations
  • a new indoor café with community seating
  • new multi-use studios
  • clinical space to support physiotherapy
  • a new full-size 3G football pitch
  • electric vehicle charging facilities

This will provide residents with an affordable and accessible leisure centre.

Improved facilities across the site

Funding will also:

  • renovate the Cross Lane changing rooms
  • create a walking and running path around the full Sports Village site
  • build a new BMX pump track

Cllr Tom Ross, Leader of Trafford Council, said:

This is fantastic news and gives us the opportunity to significantly improve the health and leisure offer for residents in Partington.

We believe these new sports facilities will mean more people taking part in sporting and leisure activities.

It will also create jobs and provide training opportunities and lead to more investment in the area. It ties in with our corporate priorities of reducing health inequalities and supporting people out of poverty.
