Kelly Lin gives an insight into her role as Senior Economist for Monitor.

Why did you join Monitor?

After studying economics at university I began working as an investment banker doing M&A (mergers and acquisitions) work in the utility sector. I moved to KPMG as an economic consultant to advise on a broader range of projects across a range of sectors including health. It was at this point in my career that a secondment opportunity came up at Monitor and I thought the opportunity to work in healthcare regulation was very appealing.

What do you enjoy about working here?

I really enjoyed my 15-month secondment and decided to work here permanently for 2 key reasons. Firstly, I really enjoy working in the healthcare sector – it’s something anyone can relate to and it’s important to everyone. The work we are doing in the economics team is at the forefront of economic regulation. It’s new and exciting. Secondly, I’m working with people that I get on with and who I choose to spend my evenings and weekends with outside of work.
