Building the evidence base on the drivers of IP demand
This ground-breaking programme of research by the IPO looks at the various strategic drivers for intellectual property and the impact this has on IP demand.
The Economics Research and Evidence team at the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is undertaking extensive research to build a more comprehensive picture of why applicants use IP. The primary aim of this research is to substantially develop IPO’s evidence base on the strategic drivers for IP. Broad research themes currently planned include:
- who is filing for IP rights?
- the role of government policy in driving IP filings
- the international IP landscape and links with innovation
The research programme will be comprised of many individual pieces of research which will complement and build on each other. The latest research papers will be uploaded on this page as the project develops and the various pieces of research are completed.
