Capacity Market parameters for T-1 and T-4 auctions taking place in winter 2021

The government has published the parameters for the next Capacity Market auctions to ensure the UK continues to have sufficient capacity to meet electricity demand.

• letter from the Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth to National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) setting out the parameters (including the volume of capacity to be secured and de-rating factors for interconnectors) for the T-1 auction for 2021 to 2022 and the T-4 auction for 2024 to 2025
• the Panel of Technical Experts report: the final auction targets are based on the advice provided by National Grid ESO in their Electricity Capacity Report, which is scrutinised by the independent Panel of Technical Experts
