The resources explain what you need to get started – from setting your strategy, to selecting a platform, to how to host your service and manage your spending in the cloud.

In addition to the policies, guidance and case studies, we encourage you to access the learning materials, visit the vendor microsites and get involved in our communities and events.

Policies and guidance

The government’s Cloud First policy was introduced in 2013. Since then, we’ve published additional documents that support this policy and the adoption of cloud technology in public sector organisations.

Our FinOps community

FinOps is an emerging practice in the public sector. This community brings together a range of professionals at the forefront of this transformation, including:

  • people with dedicated responsibility for FinOps in their departments
  • cloud engineers specialising in cost optimisation
  • commercial and finance specialists managing cloud spend and bills

Joining our community means gaining access to a wealth of knowledge, sharing insights on best practices, and networking with like-minded professionals. 

We’ll announce periodic events and meetups on the #finops Slack channel.

Our Cloud community

This community is an important part of the One Government Cloud Strategy, serving as a collaborative platform where public sector professionals can exchange insights, best practices and knowledge about cloud technology.

We regularly partner with our cloud vendors to host public sector events across different regions, bringing together civil servants from various departments. At these events you can collaborate, share insights, explore innovative solutions and address common challenges.

Some companies create microsites specifically for the public sector. They include information, training and event details for civil servants. We work with these vendors to ensure they provide the content you need:
