The Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme is the government’s main mechanism for supporting low-carbon electricity generation.

This page pulls together all documents relating to CfD Allocation Round 3 (AR3), which opened in May 2019 to eligible Pot 2 (less established) renewable technologies.

Consultations and AR3 Contract documents

Ahead of AR3, the government ran a public consultation on amendments to the scheme. It covered:

• the treatment of onshore wind on remote islands
• the requirements applied to new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) projects
• a change in the definition of waste used in the CfD scheme
• a further wider range of proposals.

A follow on consultation invited views on the how decisions resulting from the first consultation should be implemented into the CfD scheme. In April 2019 we added a supplementary government response to the Amendments to the contract consultation.

The final revised Standard Terms and Conditions and Generic Agreement documents are available here. They reflect the changes made to the CfD contract from Allocation Round 3 (AR3) onwards.
