WO government spend

This series brings together all documents relating to WO government spend

The coalition government’s transparency agenda commits each government department to publish spend on invoices over £25,000. The Secretary of State for Wales has decided that the Wales Office will go further and publish all its items of expenditure over £500.

Data from May 2010 will be published on a monthly basis.

The Wales Office is a small Whitehall department which relies heavily on the buying power of the Ministry of Justice. It uses the contracts awarded by the MOJ for a range of support services such as security, cleaning, building management for our 2 offices (London and Cardiff), office supplies, IT, hotel bookings and rail travel bookings.

Most of the expenditure relates to staffing and accommodation, and with staff in both London and Cardiff there is travel between the 2 locations. However, the Wales Office is committed to efficiency savings and has for example introduced a policy of standard class only rail travel for ministers and staff.

Quarterly reports on government procurement card spend over £500 are also included in this series.
