NavISP - Navigation Innovation Support Programme

NavISP is the European Space Agency (ESA) research and development programme for space positioning, navigation and timing products and services.

About the programme

Funding is available from the UK Space Agency for UK companies with ideas for innovative uses of space-based positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) services from systems such as GPS, Galileo or EGNOS.

The European Space Agency’s Navigation Innovation Support Programme (NavISP) has supported the UK’s space PNT sector since 2016 with over £40 million invested in research and development projects of national or commercial value. The UK Space Agency is seeking new partners for the programme.

Although many applicants are space sector companies, it is not a prerequisite. The value of space-based PNT extends far beyond the space sector: Autonomous vehicles, law enforcement, agriculture, logistics and construction have been customers of space-based navigation for decades in some cases.

We are seeking to attract new companies creating applications that use space based PNT, or technologies that enhance or augment GNSS, to facilitate growth in new areas of the UK economy.

Successful applicants will also be able to take advantage of ESA’s extensive project management experience and technical expertise in navigation technology.

Funding opportunities

The Navigation Innovation Support Programme provides funding opportunities for businesses operating in the UK space and related sectors.
