MoJ directory of service specifications
See the minimum requirements for services for offenders, defendants, victims and courts.
The service specifications define what should be delivered as part of the service (the desired outcomes and outputs for services), rather than details of how the service should be provided.
This ensures that legal, safe and decent services can be commissioned and delivered. It also allows providers to deliver the rehabilitative aspects of sentences in the way they believe is most likely to reduce reoffending.
Each service specification sets out:
- the minimum mandatory outputs and outcomes to be delivered by the provider
- the legal and policy context of the service
The full set of services that the Ministry of Justice commissions, covering all offender management services in prisons and probation, are listed in the directory of services.
