About these statistics
This data is based on the estimated number of benefit units linked to each weather station that is eligible for Cold Weather Payments. A benefit unit is an adult and their partner (if applicable) and any dependent children living with them.
The information isn’t quality assured to the same extent as official and national statistics and there may be some issues with the data – for example, figures are estimates rather than actual figures and may be revised later.
Exact figures on the amount paid out in each financial year are available in the Social Fund White Paper Accounts and DWP budget information published after the end of the financial year.
There is contact information and more about DWP statistics on the Statistics at DWP page.
