Strategic Transport Apprenticeship Taskforce
Reports outlining progress made by STAT, next steps for the taskforce and research commissioned on the current and future transport workforce.
The Strategic Transport Apprenticeship Taskforce (STAT) addresses skills challenges in a co-ordinated and collaborative way by:
- creating new, high quality apprenticeships
- improving diversity in the transport sector
- working across industry to promote transport careers to young people and their influencers
Established in April 2016, following recommendations in the Transport infrastructure skills strategy, the taskforce represents a workforce of 800,000 people, directly or indirectly. STAT is chaired by Mike Brown, Commissioner, Transport for London, as appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport. STAT reports on progress through its annual reports and keeps ministers informed about its work.
